1. Death From Overwork (more on rhythms from last week)

People do literally work themselves to death. The Japanese have a term for it: "karoshi" The first reported case was 1969 and since 1987 the Japanese Ministry of Labor began producing statistics. Some 10,000 deaths are attributed to karoshi each year.

The common factor underlying these deaths is failure to give adequate time for recovery and repair (see Issue #3, Item 6). High pressure, long hours and lack of holidays can gradually increase the physiological burden, till death occurs.

As I explained last week, chronic expenditure of energy without intermittent recovery time is bad for us. What's laughingly called "downtime" is really building ourselves up time. Yet the number of Japanese who put in more than 3,120 hours a year (60-hour week plus) has risen in recent years to 24% of the workforce.

Ironically the Americans work, on average, longer than the Japanese. Yet, in this greed and performance driven culture, nobody talks about karoshi, either under that or any other name.

What are the signs? Watch out if you feeled drained towards the end of the day, can't sleep properly, decreased appetite, high blood pressure, irritability or other emotional instability and increased incidence of injuries or infections. You may be pushing too hard.

The answer, of course, is more downtime. Take it easy for a few minutes every hour. Drink water, take a short walk. I love to just go and stand near the hummingbird feeders; they fly round my head and I feel in a different place!

Set some limits; and keep to them!

Here's a good tip: slowing down exhalation induces relaxation and calm. Breath consciously -- in for 3 seconds; a slow exhalation for 6 seconds. It definitely promotes a powerful wave of recovery. It calms both body and mind. It builds energy; sharpens focus.

Heck, it saves lives too!

2. The Race For The Gravy! (including all the B*S*)

Oink!!

The feeding frenzy.

In Issue #2 I predicted the "feeding frenzy" that will soon start concering H1N! flu (swine flu) vaccine.

There will be UNPRECEDENTED hype, lies and propaganda on this.

There is little threat any longer but you may be SURE that as soon as the first vaccine is ready, there will be pressure to force everyone to get vaccinated against this "deadly pandemic". Mere facts will play no part in the circus scenario. The script is already written, the actors and actresses are rehearsing their lines.

The company which is first past the finishing post with the biggest delivery of lies, nonsense and pseudo-science will make a KILLING (and I use that term advisedly).

How can anyone sane suppose that a vaccine is going to be either safe or effective, when the time scale is a matter of a mere 10- 15 weeks? There is no time for proper testing.

But what concerns me is the safety issue. The US government (bless 'em!) has granted immunity to drug companies, so that no matter how carelessly and dangerously flung together the vaccine, they cannot be sued. Thousands of deaths can ensue and they will make their killing, utterly immune from the reaches of decency, morality and justice (of which they know nought).

With nothing to fear from product liability lawsuits, Big Pharma can unleash whatever substances their cronies in the FDA lets them, and indications are that under Pandemic declaration safety standards would be dropped in the rush to stab the population as widely as possible with vaccines. Under rulings made under the Bush Administration, vaccines can be labeled as “unavoidably unsafe” meaning that when a product is ‘carefully designed, manufactured and marketed, but is dangerous nonetheless,’ it is not a defective product, even though it might cause injury. Clear? It certainly is clear to the pharmaceutical industry which lobbied hard for the determination.

Yawn. Yet, to date, the virus has caused 19,273 cases of infection in 66 countries, but just 117 deaths, 97 of them in Mexico, the WHO reported last Wednesday. Nevertheless the WHO is still considering declaring a pandemic!

STOP PRESS: I'm sure you heard. On June 11th the WHO raised the alert level to 6. Now it's offically a pandemic. Common sense and science will be out of the window faster than you can think. Only time will tell whether this event progresses to being even as big a problem as seasonal flu already is!

Some Sobering Quotes (these were preapred before the pandemic was declared)

The report that WHO may declare an official Pandemic global alert any time is all the more bizarre given the fact that the global wave of cases reported to date to WHO from around the world reportedly have been so mild as to be indistinguishable from the symptoms of ordinary flu.
F. William Engdahl

It takes a very special type of human consciousness, something beyond arrogance and hate to plan a simultaneous assault on billions of people. And it takes an extreme weakness of human spirit to bend over and let what is planned come into play. This attack is being financed and planned, not in secret but in full view and is almost guaranteed to be fully implemented next fall during the flu season in the northern hemisphere.
Mark Sircus

France is preparing a battle plan without precedent for this autumn, including an obligatory vaccination campaign for all French of more than 3 months of age. According to our information, the State will place an order for 100 million units of influenza vaccine from three laboratories (GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi and Novartis).

Marie-Christine Tabet for Le Journal du Dimanche.

Mass vaccinations started in October 1976, but within weeks reports started coming in of people developing Guillain-Barré syndrome, a paralyzing nerve disease, right after taking the shot. Within two months, 500 people were affected, and more than 30 died.

3. Are You Worried About 2012?

Apparently a lot of people are worried that the Mayans had a calendar which expires in the year 2012. It must mean the end of the world, say the devotees. This somehow implies that the Mayans were a wonderfully sophisticated people who could see forward to our times.

Let me tell you the TRUTH about the Mayans. They were crude, bloodthirsty savages who engaged in ritual human sacrifice. After tyhey sacrificed men and it didn't work, they took to sacrificing women and children! That's especially repulsive to a hardened Anglo-Saxon. Yet I'm supposed to admire and take regard of what these people thought? No way!

Not only were they animal brutes but they were pretty d***ed stupid too. They abused and overused their environmental resources, exactly as we are doing today.

Clear archeological evidence comes from research led by David Lenz, a paleoethnobotanist at the University of Cincinnatti Ohio. Temples built before the 8th century AD used logs of the sapodilla tree; strong and straight. And it took good carvings. After that they switched to inferior logwood, a tree which was twisted and did not take carvings well. They simply felled too many good trees to be sustainable. Duh!

Earlier studies, based on pollen deposits, showed a sorry picture of deforestation and soil erosion. Thats' why the Mayans died out. So if I want to learn from the Mayans, it's not their sophisticated calendar I should be interested in but their stupid enviromental policies which, like our own, will lead to human extinction.

The fact they could follow stars and planetary movements should not impress us. Hitler had some of the best machinery in the Second World War. He was still a bloodthirsty monster, unworthy of being followed, like the Mayans.

Forget them! God and evolution did!

What I personally believe for the future is summed up in this week's wonderful quote by Carl Sandburg, at the bottom of the page!

4. How Beauty Is An Important Part of Health (a reader response)

Dr. Keith,
Beauty, internal and external, is a direct reflection of the energy one radiates. Hence the term, "radiant beauty."

In turn, the power of the energy one radiates is a direct reflection of one's beliefs, thoughts, and feelings about one's self (the inner world) and the external world.

When I started practicing as a plastic surgeon, I had a quotation by George Santayana inside one of my brochures:

"Beauty as we feel it is something indescribable; what it is or what it means can never be said."
   -- George Santayana

We feel energy, we don't think it. And, most of the time, we don't see it, at least not consciously.

These days, I no longer practice plastic surgery; I'm making my mark on the world by helping conscious entrepreneurs to live their lives with greater freedom, so they contribute to others and the world with greater impact, and ultimately, enjoy a richness of prosperity that they can't help but share with others. However, my experience in medicine has served me well in providing a foundation for appreciating the inner beauty in others, as well as in myself.

The inner beauty we sense emanates from unconditional love, the greatest love of all.

Say we're at a social gathering, and a stranger walks into a room. A common reaction upon sensing the movement of that person entering the room, is to glance at that person. In that instant, uncontrollably, we make a myriad of judgments and assessments about that person...

...do we like how the person is dressed? Is the person attractive to us? How does the person walk? Is the person physically fit or grossly out of shape? Is this a person we'd like to speak with, or stay away from?

Our rational, intellectual minds take us down a road of sensing that person's physical presentation, our intuitive, inner guidance system picks up on that person's energetic presence.

In my experience and observation, the power of one's energetic presence influences and alters their external physical beauty. And, it impacts the longevity of that beauty.

I've seen unhappy women with attractive physical features age prematurely, beyond the help of cosmetic surgery. And, I've seen optimistic, self-confident, and yes, radiant, women with attractive physical features maintain their physical beauty beyond what one might expect for their chronological years.

And, have you ever seen a physically attractive person, then gotten to know that person and realized that this person has a toxic personality? And, with that realization, didn't that person become less beautiful, less physically attractive to you?

Conversely, have you ever gotten to know someone with plain physical features who becomes beautiful in your eyes, because the true nature of their being shine through in who they are being and in their acts of love and kindness?

One more thing: Is physical beauty impacted by diet and exercise? Of course. What one eats, one becomes... Put in good fuel, and the body responds correspondingly.

But diet, and what happens after one eats that food, is affected by....

.. you guessed it: One's beliefs, thoughts, and feelings.

It's an inescapable law of the Universe.

As Ernest Holmes said, "Change your thinking, change your life."

Okay, I'm off topic here, as I usually write about conscious entrepreneurship, but I couldn't resist.

I hope I've given you something to chew on; now go write your book!

5. Back To Twittering And Stuff!

A few people (very few actually) wanted to know why I was mailing my health readership fans about a social marketing package.

Actually, it’s simpler than you think. To be socially integrated and well-connected is healthy. To be out of touch is not. The old values of family and village are losing their emphasis (something I regret but nevertheless am aware of).

The best way to stay connected is through social media and the technology that allows networking. I now have friends all round the world and correspond with them. I met young Hoe Bing Lo through the Internet. He lives in Melbourne, Australia; I live in Los Angeles. How likely is it we would meet in real life? Yet he’s a great guy, wants to learn alternative medicine from me and I need help with some of technical issues, which he’s a whizz at!

How cool is does it get?

The exciting thing is you never know who’s looking at your Facebook profile or going to send you a message. I rate myself something of a beginner but already I’m beginning to see the power of this new phenomenon and how it’s going to change the world.

In the network called LinkedIn you can have a hundred “friends” but through their 2-step network you might find you’re connected to several MILLION people (LinkedIn actually tells you how many). That’s a very powerful reach and far more than I could POSSIBLY reach with my emails and books.
Facebook is even bigger. It currently has over 200 million members and is growing very fast.

I want my subscribers to learn about this new dimension of human consciousness and I thought the package put together by Doug and Brian is about the best I’ve seen. They are using my testimonial—I gave it freely because I honestly think it’s the best value course I’ve ever seen on the Internet. The price is ludicrously low for what you get.

In fact these boys have a simple business model; it’s built around delivering exceptional value for money. I’m delighted to be able to introduce YOU to THEM!

Yes they charge a small sum for their video course. But the EXTRA you get with it is just mind-boggling. It took me ages to download all the helpful extra videos, audios and eBooks they include with their core program.

Most people spend $60 or more every month is Starbuck’s. This costs less and is a better life investment, I assure you. As I said in Wednesday’s email, social networking is definitely the future and it’s healthy to stay abreast of major trends. Don’t get left behind. That’s like malnutrition for the intellect!

6. Mobile Phones... Again!

Kids are most at risk. The industry is simply glossing over the fact that adult "safety standards" (which are false anyway) simply cannot be applied to children. Their brains are much more pastic while formative and much more subject to damage by microwave radiation. This is PROVEN, but you'd never think to hear it.

Now, as a result of a government report, prepared in France, which identified damage to the developing brain – mobile phones are being banned in every primary school in the country.

French judges are also supporting local residents’ groups in their call to have mobile phone masts dismantled. Radiation from the masts has been blamed for insomnia, headaches, fatigue and cancer in communities living close to a mast.

These moves will concern telecoms companies everywhere, and will encourage pressure groups that have campaigned for greater control of mobile phones, masts and wi-fi networks.

Other health authorities have claimed that mobile phones are safe to use, although the UK experts have been concerned that they shouldn’t be used by children, as electromagnetic radiation from them may affect the developing brain.

Now the French authorities have gone further, and have stated that mobile phones and wi-fi represent a real threat to children’s health. As a result, all primary schools are banning mobile phone use by pupils aged 14 and younger.

The US government, on the other hand, has declared no problem and taken the weird (unconstitutional) step of making it a Federal offence for state law makers to restrict the "freedom" of the cell phone industry. Deadly microwave masts cannot be banned on health grounds, even in the face of mounting scientific proof of the dangers.

Concerned governers and their legistlature simply cannot put the health and safety of their citizens ahead of the greedy and reckless abuses of the telecommunications industry!

The Psycho Hotline

Here's some wicked humor, making fun of sick people. However, I have to admit, it's VERY funny!

What's In A Word?

Sanguine is our word this week. It goes back to Medieval times and means: Having a warm, passionate and optimistic temperament. Kinda laid back, effortless, cheerful! It went with a ruddy complexion, hence sanguinary or "bloodish"!

It comes from the Latin Sanguineus (shorter form sanguinis), meaning simply "blood". To ex-sanguinate means to bleed out but is a nicer word for something so horrible.

It has rich associations. For example scholars (and I don't mean Dan Brown) have determined that the idea of the "holy grail" is really a mis-translation. San greal means holy grail right enough (san as in saint or sacred). But perhaps the historic writers really meant sang real "kingly blood" (real means royal)? That spawned the whole story of Christ's blood line of descendents, via Mary Magdalene, that has been written about in numerous well-researched books. It includes the idea that Chirst descended through the Merovingians kings, to the present day Masons and the Order Of The Sion Priory (Prieure De Sion). Take note of the Masonic symbols on today's dollar bills.

All good contentious stuff and well worth the movie "The Da Vinci Code". You can read more on wikipedia here: Prieure De Sion (just be aware that the wikipedia entry was obviously written by someone wanting to play it all down as just a myth).

On a "slightly" less contentious note, Sanguinaria canadensis (bloodroot) is a powerful and useful herb. It's particularly helpful against cancer. It is a part of the Harry Hoxsey formula and Essiac from Renee Caisse. North American indians were well aware of its anti-cancer properties. So were the AMA and FDA, which is why they closed these two herb formulas down with their usual bully-boy methods.

This Week's Quote:

"A baby is God's opinion that life should go on."

Carl Sandburg

So, that's all for this week!

Be well; find the sacred in all you do, otherwise don't do it!
