Prof, for anybody interested in autism, I highly recommend reading Gut and Psychology Syndrome, by Natasha Campbell McBride, a Russian-British neurologist whose son was diagnosed almost 20 years ago. She began researching the literature when doctors told her he would only grow worse, never better, and there was nothing that could be done for him.

She found a LOT of research and developed a program which has helped thousands of children and adults with autism spectrum disorders lead normal lives, her own son included. The key was gut dysbiosis, which, when corrected, brings about normalizing of the mental as well as physical aspects of autism. And, of course, the earlier treatment starts, the greater the healing. She found that mercury could sometimes tip a borderline child over into frank autism, but that many autistic children and adults had symptoms from before mercury exposure.

Her work is well researched and her writing makes a lot of sense. She is a most approachable, low-key woman who is quietly helping children all over the world.
