About

Why is it called “Letter From Serendipity”? Because I first started sending it out in 2002, when I lived in beautiful Sri Lanka. The island’s old Arab name was Serendib and that gave us the word serendipity; it’s that kind of place! Despite it’s recent war, it’s still a land of magic and enchantment.

It was once the start of the real “spice trail”. There are substances in our materia medica, like Nux vomica, which ONLY grow in Sri Lanka and nearby. 200 years before the Romans had baths, Sri Lanka had plenty of them (even force jet showers!) and built hydrodynamic irrigation schemes accurate to one inch in one kilometre.

See my page on the origins of acupuncture in Sri Lanka; you’ll be amazed!

Here’s a wonderful sunset I photographed myself on our honeymoon!

Hi Prof, this is not a comment that you should publish, okay. What I wanted to do was make a suggestion or two about your site. First, I like it and think you will enjoy having a WordPress site, they’re very easy to use. Now, here’s a suggestion – remove the META area from the site, it doesn’t look good and you don’t need it. All you have to do when you want to log in, is go to the site, then type “wp-admin” without the quotes behind your URL. This will take you directly to your WordPress login.
Next, since removing Meta will cause you to lose the links to the RSS sign-up, add a RSS icon in your footer or to a widget area. And add “Links” to the sidebar and link to all your other sites and all your books for sale. It’ll help your ranking on all the sites and might sell some books, too. Hope you are having fun with WordPress, it’s a great program, and the more you use it the more you will appreciate all the things it can do.

  2. I like your ‘LETTER FROM SERENDIPITY’.
